f there’s one thing Worthing Food & Drink Festival is all about, it’s great food.
This year’s festival is shaping up to be a real showcase of some of the best food and drink from Worthing, Sussex and beyond. We’ve got lots of familiar faces returning, some brilliant new additions and food from all over the world, so whether you come every year or this will be your first visit, there will be plenty to discover.
Taking over Steyne Gardens on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September, you’ll be able to eat your way around everything from Thai, Indian, Mexican, Japanese, Greek and African food to burgers, BBQ, pizza, dumplings, loaded fries, mac and cheese and plenty of sweet treats.
Around the world without leaving Steyne Gardens
One of the things we love most about the festival is the variety.
Simply Veg will be bringing Indian street food, So Dumpling Good has dumplings covered, Mama Sheila is serving African food and PunjaBan will be bringing more Indian street-food favourites. There’ll also be Japanese okonomiyaki, Greek wraps and Gyros, Venezuelan arepas from D’Amore Catering and Mexican food from Saltio.
And that’s before you get to the festival classics. Expect pulled pork from Smoking Hoggs, BBQ from Holy Smoke House, German bratwurst, wings and fries from Hot Chicks, burgers from Superburger and Three Cuts, loaded fries from Summit Tasty, poutine from La Poutine and lobster and steak from Fig & Fleur.
There really is something for every appetite.
Some very familiar Worthing faces
We’re especially pleased that the festival gives us another opportunity to showcase businesses that you can find right here in Worthing all year round.
Beer No Evil will be joining us with their bar. Based on Brighton Road, Beer No Evil is an award-winning independent craft beer shop and taproom, with a big focus on independent producers and sustainability.
Worthing seafront favourite Saltio will also be there. Their Marine Parade restaurant is known for Mexican street food, including tacos and burritos, alongside cocktails, and they’ll be bringing a taste of that to Steyne Gardens.
Jonny’s is another familiar town centre name joining the festival. Their Warwick Street restaurant has been in Worthing since 2019 and is well known for home-cooked food, breakfasts, burgers and cocktails. At the festival they’re down to serve burgers, chips and cocktails.
We’ll also have Five Dots, Worthing’s hidden speakeasy on Chapel Road, bringing cocktails and Greek food to the festival.
And Worthing craft beer favourite The Old Bike Store will have a bar at the festival too. Their Brighton Road venue champions craft beer, including local Sussex and South Coast breweries, alongside cider, wine, gin and spirits.
The Rose & Crown will be joining the bar line-up too, bringing another Worthing town centre business out of Montague Street and into Steyne Gardens for the weekend.
We’re also really pleased to welcome G-Lite back to the festival. Another familiar Worthing name, G-Lite will be serving their Italian gelato and treats over the weekend, so they’re definitely one to save some room for.
Produced locally, Worthing Gin and Rum will be shaking up some drinks and selling bottles to take home. You can discover some brilliant local producers at the festival and then continue supporting them long after the weekend is over.
From locally produced gin and craft beer to cocktails, Mexican food, burgers and Italian gelato, we love that so many of the businesses people know from around Worthing will be together in Steyne Gardens alongside new traders and flavours from further afield.
We love having our town centre businesses at the festival because it means discovering something you love doesn’t have to end on Sunday evening. You can go back and support them in Worthing throughout the year.
Save room for something sweet
Definitely don’t fill up too quickly because there’s a serious amount of dessert to get through too.
The Poffertjes Kitchen will be serving Dutch pancakes, Sunrise Patisserie has Portuguese tarts, Snug Cookies will be bringing cookies and Selene’s Sweet Cakes has cakes and treats. There’s also Cat Burglar Dough Co with doughnuts, Granny Sally’s Fudge, Yum Yums Sweeties, Thai Stir Fry Ice Cream, gelato from G-Lite and traditional bakery treats from Brown Bread.
And if sweets aren’t your thing, there’ll be plenty to take home too, including Joe’s Chilli Sauce, Boom Sauce, olives and Turkish delight from MKS Food Distribution, New Forest Shortbread and more.
And, of course, something to drink
Alongside the Worthing bars, there’ll be plenty of other drinks to try throughout the weekend, from coffee at Bolt Espresso and homemade lemonade from Lemon Squeezer to wine from Partners in Wine, cider from Apples Bloom, gin and rum from our very own Worthing Gin And Rum and cocktails served in an actual pineapple from VW Pineapple Cocktail.
With old favourites, new traders and some of Worthing’s own brilliant food and drink businesses all together in one place, this year’s festival is a pretty good excuse to arrive hungry.
