We warmly welcome buskers to Worthing and ask that you help us maintain a respectful and enjoyable environment for fellow performers, local businesses, and the public. While the Town Centre BID does not have legal enforcement powers, we kindly request that you follow these community guidelines:

    • Busking hours: We ask that performances take place between 10am–7pm (Mon–Sat) and 11am–7pm (Sun).

    • Session length & location: We ask that busking sessions are kept to no more than 2 hours in one location and that you move around regularly.

    • Amplification:

      • Please keep the volume at a level where people can hold conversations in nearby shops.

      • If asked by a Town Centre Ranger or a business to lower the volume, we ask that you comply.

    • Selling CDs or merchandise: We ask that you do not sell CDs without prior permission from Worthing Borough Council Licensing (01903 221068).

    • Structures & equipment:

      • We ask that no gazebos, tables, or other structures be used unless an official event space has been booked, and proof of public liability insurance is provided (call 01903 203252).

      • We ask that street furniture, such as lampposts and benches, is not used as part of your performance.

    • Public safety & courtesy:

      • We ask that you avoid obstructing pathways or interrupting the use of public spaces.

      • Please keep your performance area safe for others to move around freely.

      • We ask that you observe standard busking etiquette and be respectful to other performers.

    • No reserved pitches: We ask that you understand that pitches are first come, first served. No specific pitch is guaranteed.

    • Letters of No Objection:

      • We ask that you carry your letter for potential inspection by the Police or Town Centre Rangers.

      • Each letter of no objection covers only one performer unless otherwise stated.

    • Behaviour & conduct:

      • We ask that buskers refrain from any abusive behaviour or performing under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Those who do so may be reported to the police.

      • We ask that you respond politely to any complaints or requests from the public.

    • Event clashes: If an event is scheduled nearby, we ask that you move your location and not perform within hearing distance of the event.

    • Under-16s: We ask that those under 16 are supervised by an adult at all times while busking.

By following these guidelines, we can all contribute to making busking a positive experience for everyone in Worthing.
