The Dome Cinema
The Dome Cinema, a beautifully restored Edwardian building, first opened in April 1911 and continues to serve as a cherished entertainment venue in Worthing. Originally known as The Kursaal, the building featured a roller skating rink and theatre before transitioning fully into a cinema in 1921.
Now home to three screens, including the grand main auditorium with 500 seats, Screen 2 with refurbished Premier seating, and the intimate 41-seat Screen 3, The Dome offers a unique cinematic experience. The venue’s rich history includes a feature in the 1987 film “Wish You Were Here,” and it was fully restored in 2005 thanks to lottery and Heritage funding, ensuring superior access for all visitors, including step-free access to all screens.
With its blend of history and modern amenities, The Dome remains a beloved landmark for both locals and visitors.

Please update your website to include that it was used in the brilliant film with Olivia Coleman “Empire of Light”. It was that film that caused me to look up where it was filmed.
What a beautiful building and thank you to all who have been involved in it’s restoration. Every moment of sweat, stress and hard work have obviously been worth it to bring one of our country’s most beautiful buildings back to life.
