Artist Wanted

Worthing BID Inviting Streets 2026

Theme- Love Worthing

Public Art Competition Brief

Worthing Business Improvement District is launching an open public competition inviting artists to submit original artwork for use across Inviting Streets 2026.

This opportunity is open to everyone. All ages. All backgrounds. All skill levels. You do not need to be a professional artist to take part. This is about celebrating creativity across the whole community.

The Opportunity

Selected artwork will be used across the town as part of Love Worthing 2026. This includes street crossings, lamp post banners and vinyl wrapped utility boxes. The aim is to bring bold creativity, colour and a strong visual identity to Worthing.

The winning artist will become the official Worthing BID artist for 2026 and will be showcased on the Worthing BID website with a dedicated biography and artist profile.

Theme

The theme is bold, bright and love Worthing positive.

We are looking for artwork that feels optimistic, welcoming and full of energy.

Designs should reflect pride in the town and feel accessible and uplifting for residents and visitors alike.

Who Can Enter

This competition is open to anyone, regardless of age or experience. Individuals, students, emerging artists and established creatives are all welcome to submit work.

We will actively promote the competition to art colleges, galleries and creative projects, but submissions are not limited to any group or organisation. This is a fully open call.

Selection Process

The Worthing BID Directors will shortlist six finalists from all entries received.

The final decision will then be made by a public vote through a social media campaign, giving the community a direct voice in selecting the winning artwork.

Prize

The winning artist will receive a cash prize of £500.

Rights and Usage

Worthing BID will own all rights to the reproduction, adaptation and use of the selected artwork across all formats related to Love Worthing 2026 and associated promotional activity.

Artwork may be resized, adapted or reproduced across different materials while maintaining the integrity of the original design.

Legacy and Future Value

Similar schemes run successfully in other towns, with street dressings later auctioned to raise additional BID funds once the season ends.

Why Take Part

This is a chance to see your work displayed across the town, contribute to Worthing’s visual identity, and be part of a large scale public art project that puts creativity at the heart of the community.

We encourage everyone to take part.
